Have never understood why they have Melrose and Buccigross do those games. Buccigross seems like a good dude and is a tireless promoter of college hockey so I sort of get why they have him do it but he's not really a PBP guy. Melrose ought never be anywhere a microphone. He might occasionally make a decent point in the studio if they set him up for it, but he is an embarrassment during live play - I feel bad for the guy being in a role he is so unqualified for.

Every reference to a player had to include who drafted him, how high he will be drafted, or whether he played for the junior national team.

I don’t have stakes in the playoffs but I’m going to enjoy the hell out of Leafs-Bolts, who have fought at least six times halfway through tonight’s game. Gonna be a bloodbath.

The Penguins really are a joke. Florida loses the other night, so all they need to get in the playoffs are a couple of wins against the dregs if the league, but they are trailing the Blackhawks, 1-0, heading into the third period. So much for all those veterans stepping up.

Oshie has status at one of our finer Virginia golf clubs so I’ll see if he can help some of the Pittsburgh boys out. But not Letang.

Must be sad to root for a team with him on it that manages to suck even worse than the Penguins this year.

The only bright spot for the Penguins is this spares them the beating the Bruins would have put on them. I heard some analyst going on about how their experience would make them dangerous in the playoffs. If that was true, they wouldn't have choked their season away at home against the Blackhawks. To be fair, they've been doing it all season. Every time they seem to figure it out, as they had they last couple of games, they would have a stinker like tonight. They are old, slow, and sloppy.

The Eastern Conference wild card race has been a shitshow for weeks and has somehow gotten WORSE the last few days. The Islanders no-showing against the undermanned Capitals (17 players instead of 18 due to salary cap issues and none of the 17 were Alex Ovechkin) was terrible, but you could at least chalk that up to the Capitals maybe tapping into some of that championship muscle memory and wanting to spoil the playoff hopes of a bitter division rival (hey @Cosmo, Tom Wilson is a dirty sack of shit!). The Blackhawks are taking tanking to a new level. How do the Penguins lose by multiple goals to them? That's terrible. These wild cards are awful.

(Possibly coming tomorrow: How do the Islanders lose to the Canadiens?)
