I saw them in 1989 at The Spectrum in Montreal, which was possibly the last tour before Baird split.

Here is the Crossroads version. Good intro as well. Some nice solos, I’m a big Vince Gill fan.

I don’t know why Crow is at a guitar festival. She hams it up with her ex Clapton, songs weird and points at Albert Lee while Gill is still laying it down.

It was kind of a kick in the nuts last night during the Beach Boys documentary on CBS. I've never heard of most of the groups/singers. Some of the ones I have heard of, I know nothing about their music.
I can say I've seen Brian Wilson and Al Jardine live in the past year. Glad to see them STILL alive last night.

A buddy of mine who was a music writer says that’s a familiar trick
    Get a tribute show
Get a lot of new artists and feature them singing familiar songs
Maybe somebody watching like them and checks their songs out
Oh, and Brandi Carlisle and John Legend, who seem to be on every one of these shows

My wife and I caught this trio's act about a year ago. As we watched I had to marvel at the sheer number of musical notes washing over us.

I tumbled down the latest YouTube trou de lapin and found a bunch of pre-debut album Wet Leg covers. This one is pretty brilliant and haunting.

Metallica released a new album today. It's ... uh .... good? Kind of surprised how much I like it on first listen.

Dave Hause (so much of the musicI’m listening to lately comes out of Philly for some reason) releases a new album later this month. Just straightforward heartland rock from a guy who came from the punk world.

72 Seasons does not suck (and we know what that sounds like when it comes to Metallica). I think it's a lot like "Hardwired..." in that it's a good 45-minute album with a lot of ballast.

It may be due to poor brickwalled production, but most of the tunes sound the same to me. AC/DC. Motorhead, and Rammstein songs are substantially equivalent within their respective catalogs but those get in and get out. Aside from Lux Æterna (which feels long even at 3:25) and Too Far Gone (why this wasn't a single* baffles me), there's just not enough going on to warrant these songs being as long as they are. The blues-based riffs aren't generic but they aren't memorable by any stretch, either.

Like Iron Maiden, these guys need an editor. Maiden has had way too many plodding historical epics with 1+ minute bass intros (and outros) but at least Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, and Janick Gers can still make you sit up and pay attention. Kirk Hammet has a fever and the only prescription is more wah pedal. I kept reading about this incredible ending for Inamorata and...nah. For eleven minutes, the payoff and path to get there are more interesting in Heathen's "No Stone Unturned."

To their immense credit, these guys aren't mailing it in for a check and I'm very happy they're still doing what they want after all they've given me (I was 12 years old again watching them play MoP on Jimmy Kimmel). You can really feel the passion and commitment to the album, especially as it seems to be a personal one for James. Thankfully, my "72 seasons" were much easier than his so I can't viscerally relate to the lyrics. That perhaps isn't allowing me to strongly connect with the album but I'll say that's a tradeoff I'll readily accept.

*oddly, the singles seem to be among the weaker tunes on the album.

I would've given my left ovary to make it to Coachella this weekend. Wet Leg have a new logo and the girls are a hella less frumpy.

    Dare I say it ... they're showing a little .... leg.
