    Nitrate is the most common
    inorganic contaminant in Kansas
    groundwater. Previous studies have
    found that about 30% of domestic
    wells in Kansas have nitrate
    levels greater than the Maximum
    Contaminant Level (MCL) for public
    drinking water
    (Steichen et al., 1988;
    Spalding and Exner, 1993; Townsend
    and Young, 1995; Townsend, 1996).

    OMG the planet's going to hell in a hand basket if we don't cut down on the meat!

    Nope, but I'm not the one suggesting the article is making an argument for a zero-sum game.

    No.

    But we need to be smarter about the choices we make.

    I'm not willing to clear cut the Amazon Basin so Americans can eat more hamburgers - in order to spend $216 billion a year treating heart attack and stroke.

    Uruguay consumed the most beef per capita in the world in 2016 followed by Argentina and Hong Kong. All three countries consumed more than 100 pounds of beef per capita. The United States consumed the 4th most beef per capita in the world in 2016.

    Should we rage against Uruguay, Argentina, and Hong Kong too?

    Nor did I suggest undrinkable water was a fallacy.

    There's no fight. Meat's not going anywhere. Neither is rice. It's a religion/language arts exercise.
