At this point you just give side-eye to a female in Bristol and your ass is out the door.

Brings new meaning to "Who's Next?"

You know Disney is serious - they didn't even do the ESPN Disney weekend this year.

So look. Disney isn't doing great, IMO. And it's not really - well, not at all - related to the nonsense with DeSantis.

Pixar has either lost its fastball or audiences aren't resonating. It started before COVID, IMO, but accelerated after that.

Star Wars properties are a heavy lift with considerable payoff - but not what it once was. (I think the Mandalorian stinks)

    MCU...we'll see.

Here are box office top grossers in 2019 (Ignore the totals, look at the studios in top ten)

Domestic Box Office For 2019 - Box Office Mojo

    Then, in 2022

Domestic Box Office For 2022 - Box Office Mojo

    7 out of 10 vs. 3 out of 10.

Disney was the cultural drumbeat of millennials.

It's not that for Gen Z - or whatever you call behind it.

They have 16 movies coming out the rest of the year -- including a Guardians, the Little Mermaid remake, Indiana Jones and the Marvels, then there's a new Pixar and a new Disney Animated film (Wish). Those six are probably going to make about 1.5 billion you can add to Antman's total so I think they'll be ok.

I think the biggest hit is that people have less disposable income due to inflation - and their businesses are entirely disposable income related.

OK, but the millennials have kids, or are about to have kids. They'll be, to use DeathSantis' favorite term, indoctrinated into the ways of Disney soon enough. And most of my friends are all Disney nuts and turning their kids into Disney nuts (mine most certainly included). They know how to operate Disney Plus like they know how to operate our phones. Disney will be fine. They'll do the usual slashing and cutting, cause that's what billion dollar companies do, but they'll be as popular as ever for however long the Earth is here.

Disney stock up 10% for the year. Its fiscal first quarter earnings were above expectations. Its second quarter is expected to be even better. If only every company could not do as well.

The frustration here is that you know the wrong damn people will be let go while the loudmouths and ass shakers remain.
