He also referenced the Jets smoking the Packers last year. All he wants to do is get out of there, smoke a giant bowl of weed and do his own research.

Reminds me of a book I have called “The Draft”, in which the author followed some college players, agents, scouts and the Falcons for a year to show how the process works.

The one part that I always remember is one NFL guy, after listing all the things that teams do to research a player, then said “Do you really think we listen to Mel Kiper?”

There was a time when the draft was 12 rounds on Tuesday
Started at 8 am on ESPN and went until it was done

Kiper was the first name to break through and he seems to have really done the work over the years. There are now hundreds who probably put in the same, if not more, effort and who have more insightful thoughts. But he’s a brand name, which goes a long way.

And never forget that the draft is entertainment and content — very few people care about or grade the Kipers of the world, be it in terms of accuracy of the picks or whether the prospects succeed in the order in which they were ranked.

I interviewed Kiper once and called him on giving Chris Spielman a fifth-round grade
    He got VERY defensive

The Ravens were negotiating against themselves and still got taken to the cleaners.

RIP "Lamar Jackson should really hire an agent, he doesn't know what he's doing" narrative.

Quarterbacks are expensive. The deal puts him right where he should be.

Done deal once Hurts got his. Jackson gets a smidge more. Fair enough.
