You could also say Pompeo, Pence, Hailey and others who are touting their Trump WH experience are putting a moat around his eventual nomination, protecting it - since they are sucking up enough anti-Trump support to make his 35 percent or whatever, enough to win the primaries.

It's still a year and a half until the 2024 election. No matter how much shit is talked about Garland and the DoJ, I still think that the courts are going to have something to say about Trump's viability as a presidential candidate. Plenty of time for several more trials and a conviction or two. He'll do all he can to slow this process and will make every possible appeal, but the courts have grown impatient with his act.

Yeah, but the longer you go on, with the election nearing, you veer into the "arresting candidates who threaten your power" thingy we accuse the bad countries of doing.

Trump and the R's will no doubt use that any chance they get, but the cases take time to develop and have been developed rather publicly. No one is swooping in and knocking out a suddenly popular candidate. If the Republicans choose a candidate with half a dozen felony cases pending as their candidate they can hardly complain when those dates come up on the calendar, especially when Trump himself has deliberately done everything possible to slow the cases in order to use his campaign as a protective tactic, as he did when he used being in office to fend them off.

Justice Gorsuch's mom was EPA director at the time of its formulation, and named in one of the original suits. Thus, he should recuse as well.

it's the emptiest life ever. He has a fake gold rococo sitting room but doesn't have a favorite song. Sad.

Exactly. It's funny how one man's "a year and a half away!" is another man's "too late to do anything meaningful..." I'll give you one guess which one of those mans is moi.

Same SCOTUS that you're saying will allow the prosecution of a Republican presidential nominee to continue during an election? Is that the SCOTUS we're talking about?
