One of my favorite things about this board is when @Songbird digs his heels in on a stance and won't give an inch, no matter how ridiculous the point may be. I say this as someone who really likes INXS. Ha.

Oh I'll give half an inch back, and then some, after being educated with facts. Clearly there was no better band in the '80s than Motley Crue. Nothing INXS did comes within a thousand suns of Girls, Girls, Girls.

I never argued that Motley Crue was good.

Only that they were mega-popular, sold a fuck-ton of records, and symbolized ‘80s excess like few other bands could.

Be that as it may, I oversold INXS and stand corrected.

The best SONG of the ‘80s remains “Coming Home” by Cinderella.

Oasis was/were clearly the class of the '90s from '95 on.

There was a ton of good music from '95 thru '99.

    Cake was great.

Better Than Ezra (RIP, Norm MacDonald) had several songs that I still need to hear 25 years later.

    Toad, yo.

I listened to an “I Miss the ‘90s” playlist on Amazon and I had little recollection of how angsty so much of the music was.

“Everything You Want” is Exhibit A:

Also, I have a soft spot for Toad the Wet Sprocket, since “Dulcinea” came out the year I graduated from high school and “Fall Down” played nonstop on the radio during the best summer of my life.

I hadn't paid much attention to Cake until Eurotrash Girl came across my Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify. That is a great song.

Hey thanks for the mid-morning kick in the junk as I think about junior high dances and my unrequited crush on Heidi Harris, pal.

Don’t forget the year and a half where women took over the airwaves after Alannis said “fuck” on a record. I’m not saying that was a bad period or anything, just that it was a very limited time that it happened. And as quickly as it sprung up, it faded just as fast.
