My quick reading of the law is that the state would require schools to train the adults and to provide the opportunity for kids to learn. Not sure it’s clear that all kids would be required to learn how to stop the bleeding of divinely sanctioned gunfire.

I’ll ask this again. What are the self-styled Christians praying for when they offer their thoughts and prayers? If those entreaties are reserved for the souls of the dead, they’re not doing much for those of us who haven’t been killed by their contemptuous indifference.

Oh, lots of things. Some even pray for forgiveness for the shooter(s). "[W]e pray for the men who inflicted such harm of others. We pray for perfect mercy and justice and, for those who still are alive, for repentance."

    Awful people, we Christians.

Do you pray for people to abandon the anger that causes these shootings? Do you pray that people will stop buying or using guns?

Don't recall an explicit instance of the second, but definitely yes to the first.

I'm tapping out of this one now. Mark this one down as a "win," if that blows your skirt up.

Then I wish Trumpists in elected positions could be more like you and declare what you just said about praying for an end to the rage that turns guns lethal. They are too scared of the gun lobby to do that.

Really? Why not? To read this site, only white people are racists, or ever could be.

I thought the same, and I was a bit shocked by this, given her journalistic background. And, gun-control advocates haven't "failed to effect change."

They have been stopped from effecting change by people like, well, like her, apparently.

This should be a largely bipartisan issue, and there is no excuse -- none -- for it not being so.

I honestly have no idea about the point she’s trying to make and I’ve read it a few times.
