I think it's hilarious when people rail against measures that will save them money because the Federal government is involved.

"My electric bill is too high!" Maybe don't put the AC on 65 degrees? "Commies!"
"It costs me $100 to fill my tank." Well, we're working on mandating increased MPG in new vehicles. "Socialism!!!"
"My water bill is killing me!" We're going to make dish washers more efficient. "You bastards!!!"

Can the Feds also make a rule banning plastic transmissions in washers/dryers/dishwashers?

Or a better system for holding the door closed on a dryer? I’ve had to replace the little clip thing the tab goes into to keep it shut three times now.

Does the attic have a gas stove and a decent dishwasher?

My vacuum is held together with duct tape after the plastic door broke; the top basket of my dishwasher is secured to its tracks with zip ties after the plastic wheels snapped off, and because a new basket is $150. My old Lenovo laptop had a hinge defect so I bolted the screen to the keyboard with miniature nuts and bolts.

That’s just it, there’s a sensor in there that has to be tripped to keep the dryer running.

A lot of the time the sensor gets stuck down because of lint or dust or just plain funk. A washer or dryer at that point will run with doors open or shut. I've inherited an antique or two.

The World's Smartest Man(TM), a devoted DIYer, will note that for appliances of more recent vintage, the sensor isn't mechanical. Well, it is, but the mechanism is magnetic (and therefore encased in plastic), so tape won't work.

Many people assume the government has bad intentions.
