The talk of the Rays' injuries compelled me to look up Kumar Rocker. I know the Mets were blasted for the failure/refusal to sign him, but two years later, he's on a typical, slow-development path with the Rangers. Six outings in A+ ball with the requisite 42 K in 28 IP. Still not particularly close to the Majors.

Nothing going on for Oakland against Texas through 6.

This will not be the last time somebody posts this about the unAthletics this season.

They suspended Mets-Nats in the 3rd inning today due to rain. Never should have started. They wait FOUR HOURS before calling it. And then, they announce a SPLIT doubleheader for Sunday. Continuation of the first game, a partial game. Six innings, full price.

That is absolutely bush league. They should be paying people to attend a Mets-Nats game at this point.

    With 5,000 fewer plate appearances:

    WAR
    83.8 Ken Griffey Jr.
    83.6 Mike Trout

If Mike Trout starts eating now, he might be able to reach Griffey’s BMI by next season.

Josh Naylor has hit go-ahead home runs in the eighth inning in three straight games against the Angels. The probability of that set of circumstances has to be astronomical.

And Phil Nevin intentionally walked Jose Ramirez to get to Naylor. But not before pulling his dominant left-handed starter to bring in a righty closer! Naylor is impotent against lefties.

Nevin was hired as a placeholder because the Angels didn’t want the new owners to be committed to a manager. When Moreno decided to keep the franchise they were stuck with an inexperienced manager who has been terrible with his bullpen management. It doesn’t help that most of the relievers have been bad and/or injured.
