I get what you're saying. All good, sir.

No question. Also, having that goal waved off for goalie interference probably provided even more motivation. Not that a Mo-coached team lacks it - ever.

Great game, some ridiculous saves, especially in the 4th OT, and I'm going to be pounding caffeine throughout work today. I was hoping for a Canes win, but in a weird way staying up for it was still worth it despite the loss. I don't know how those players do it.

They will have at least 2 complete sets of uniforms, 10-12 sticks per player and 4-5 pairs of skates, which a lot of players change every period. Plus their own skate sharpening machine. Not easy being an equipment manager, an incredible amount of stuff to move around.

Dubas not coming back to the Leafs.

I’ll take him at his word that he doesn’t take another job this year. I don’t think he’s proven to be a great GM, but people always learn lessons from their first go around and he would be a good acquisition for lots of teams.

I’d take him on my team any day.

Why isn’t Shanahan paying the price? He’s okaying the hirings and trades, no doubt. Tavares underperforms so Dubas and likely Keefe, two good hockey people, lose their jobs? The only mistake Dubas made was not getting the big save goaltender.
I’m sure he would take the Vancouver job as soon as Rutherford goes.

Might be the worst owner in the league outside of Phoenix

Why do we think Tavares underperformed? He was at 32 the same point a game guy he’s always been, and had his third highest goal total ever while playing less than he ever had. While being the captain in the nuttiest market in the world.

I think the ‘underperform’ rap is because he is invariably compared to his NYI performance where he truly was a beast, especially winning puck battles in the slot not to dissimilar to Cam Neely in that they battled, won possession and put the puck in the net. He never had Neely’s goal numbers but he was the same kind of force. Plus, when you are making 10.5 mil you are expected to put up top ten numbers and he doesn’t. He’s got a lot of miles on him in close and he is wearing down, can’t blame him, and he got a great contract from Leafs. He’s still good but not 10+ good, especially on a far more talented team.
