The 2023 Running Baseball Thread

Lindsay Berra was at UNC the same time I was (I didn't know her), and I remember Yogi came to a Carolina basketball game. I was friends with the guy who was UNC's mascot, Rameses, and so that friend, Neil, is in the Smith Center tunnel before the game and before the players are out of the locker room. Yogi is there, too.

Neil, who is 6-4 and rail thin, has the Rameses head off getting a breath of air, but in full costume otherwise. Yogi appears next to him, and in perfect Yogi panache, looks up to Neil and says, "Oh, so...you're the ram."

Neil doesn't really know what to say other than, "Yes, Mr. Berra, I am," and reaches out his furry arm to shake paws with Yogi Berra. Yogi says back, "Have a good game."

And with that, Neil puts his ram's head on and hits the floor, forever with his own personal Yogi-ism.

 

This is the Golden Age of vanity documentaries.

A few years ago on the anniversary, Ed Randall had Diane Munson on. She spent three hours listening to grown men call and cry on the air about her husband's death.

When Bill James croaks baseball fans will shit on his grave and he knows it.

 

Ha ha ha ha this guy died tragically and suddenly in the prime of his life and left behind a wife and children spending the rest of their lives without a husband and a father as well as teammates and members of the organization forever scarred by the experience sheesh lighten up Francises why is everyone so serious

 

Note my use of fuccboi. Because he's not worthy of a good insult, such as asshole.

He probably strives to be an asshole. Instead, all he can achieve is fuccboi. Sad.
