Stupid move. The guys in shacks in Appalachia don’t have fiber connections.

I tell you this with all the love in my heart: That’s an asshole take (and not even all that true).

OK. What I was trying to say is a fair bit of NASCAR’s fan base is in less developed areas. Shack or not. Good luck getting a cable line run out to somewhere 20 miles from the nearest town. I know folks who’ve tried. Sticks with 5G aren’t all over the place. Please tell me how these fans are going to watch streamed races without repeated buffering?

If NASCAR had ever had an event decided by a four-wide finish, they would have spent 20 years attempting to rig races that followed to make it happen again.

Also, was anyone else shocked that there was no phony-baloney debris caution with 10 to go at North Wilkesboro? What are we even doing here?

The same way they watch ESPN and Netflix. You think they don't watch football?

It's one thing to pick up ESPN on DirecTV or the local station using a good antenna, it's another to try and get broadband out in less-developed areas. This isn't exactly a hot take.

It's just another streaming channel. I watch several of them while sitting in a friend's double wide about five miles from the track at Talladega several days a month. People get internet, hook up a Roku..

Just now learning there's a guy in the last row of the Indy 500 named Sting Ray Robb. It's on his birth certificate, his parents had a Corvette. I feel that could be a badass name if you're in the front row, maybe not so much last row.

And of course he's driving a Honda in the race.

Good morning. Packing the car for our first trip to the 500 since 1997 and staying in Tony Stewart's hometown tonight. It's exactly 501 miles from the cabin to the Turn 1 entrance to IMS. Weather appears to be almost perfect for Sunday: mostly cloudy and warm with a slight breeze and low humidity.

I still believe Scott Dixon is the favorite, but time and time again something has derailed his chances of winning a second time. Takuma Soto has a fast car and a great team. Don't discount Alex Palou or Pato O'Ward, either. And Roger Penske always has good fortune at that place -- wouldn't be surprised to see Will Power or Josef Newgarden with the milk bottle.

Obviously, I'm pulling for Santino Ferrucci because of the No. 14 but after being a rocket ship all week, his car was crap on Carb Day. Hopefully, an engine change will help.

Darkhorse top 10 finish? Ryan Hunter-Reay.

Gonna miss the whole shebang for the first time in ages. But when your 11-year-old declares she wants a daddy-daughter roadtrip, you turn your attention to a different stretch of road.
