True. I think that may be part of Manoah's problem. Some guys like that can't handle adversity at all.

    Add Oakland Raiders.
Makes me wonder if there’s something contagious in Oakland.

I assume Altuve is on a path and not in the red zone because of the cheating, otherwise he’s in the wrong slot

I also assume correra is missing for the same reason

I’d vote for Ohtani if he retired tomorrow.

He's not eligible for the HOF at present.

    3. Eligible Candidates -- Candidates to be eligible must meet the following requirements:

    A. A baseball player must have been active as a player in the Major Leagues at some time during a period beginning fifteen (15) years before and ending five (5) years prior to election.

    B. Player must have played in each of ten (10) Major League championship seasons, some part of which must have been within the period described in 3(A).

Was just gonna say, all Ohtani has to do is get to 10 years and he's in. Don't care about counting numbers, he's the freak of all freaks and he's in as long as he stays healthy thru 10 years.

When Stroman was at his best here in Toronto he was a bulldog, a battler who pitched with a chip on his shoulder. Manoah got fucked out of a solid start by Schneider's ridiculous mismanagement last Saturday but he's been a Dairy Queener, as we say in the hockey business, this season, he's not reacted well when things start to go sideways. He's supposed to be an ace but he's pitched like a guy about to be DFA'd.

If for some reason (injury, homesickness, etc.) Ohtani doesn't get 10 full MLB years in and that keeps him out of the Hall, that institution, already ridiculous, will look even stupider, perhaps fatally so.

They did make an exception for Addie Joss, who played only nine years but died of meningitis just as his 10th season was starting. God forbid it comes down to this. But if they can't make a similarl exception for Othani ...

I hadn't heard that term, but it sounds about right. Oddly enough, he had always seemed like the opposite before this season, a guy who responded well to challenges.

I think they should have sent him to the minors to try to figure things out weeks ago. He isn't going to return to form unless he can regain his slider and his confidence. Trying to do that at the major-league level isn't working. They did it with Roy Halladay in 2001 and it worked. They may have to do something similar with Manoah.

Totally agree; as drastic as it might sound sending him down to get things figured out might be the best thing for him. He spent very little time in the minors - when there was minor league ball - before coming up and maybe the lack of experience in minor league ball due to Covid is hurting him now.
