Arnold's pronunciation of Gen. Franklin Kirby still makes me laugh to this day.

Odd thing about Arnold's career that I didn't realize until someone pointed it out is that, unlike a lot of his other action star brethren, he hasn't been the face of very many franchises.
He had two Conan movies (with a third finally on the way soon), but he was done with those very early in his career.
His recurring role in The Expendables was mostly limited to cameos, IIRC. He certainly wasn't the star of those films. He was in the original Predator but none of the sequels. He had a leading role in the one Batman sequel but, again, was hardly the face of the entire franchise.
The Terminator was his one big franchise. Most of his other movies were one-offs in terms of premise.

For a guy who's had so many iconic action roles that lend themselves to cash grab sequels, it's kind of an intriguing resume. Kind of interesting, too, that for better or for worse it seems like he's tried some different things for whatever reason instead of constantly tapping those wells like Stallone and a few others have done.

Arnold’s greatest achievement was starting a rumour that he was going to star in Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot so that his rival Sly took the role.

Conan O'Brien has a few podcast episodes in which he reads scenes from a Hams and Franz movie script. Dana Carvey, Kevin Nealon, and Robert Smigel, who wrote it with Conan, join in. In the movie, H&F go to Hollywood to see Arnold and get help breaking in.

Arnold considered playing himself and met with the writers even though the script was gently mocking him. The writers thought he got cold feet because 'Last Action Hero' bombed around that time. The movie never got made, so it didn't matter, but the sense was Arnold didn't take himself too seriously and was always very nice.

Treasure of the Sierra Madre on the big screen. Fun watch, Bogart was great. Huston a little hammy at times by todays standard.

Regarding Ahnold, the sequels he passed on were absolute shit. Strike that iron once and be done with it.

I imagine some of them would have been rewritten from what they ended up being if he was attached. I can't see him sliding into Danny Glover's role in Predator 2 without some rewrites, for example.
But Commando did well enough, and the concept was open-ended enough, that they could've made a sequel to it at some point. Same with True Lies. But for the most part, his movies during that 1984-94 stretch when he was at his peak simply didn't lend themselves to becoming sequels from a story standpoint. The Running Man and Total Recall, for example. It's just an odd thing for that genre and a star of his stature.

    "Air" last night. OK.
Mrs. Jordan was excellent. She reminded me of the current boss in "NCIS Las Vegas" in her soft-spoken, yet very spot on demeanor.
I don't remember ever hearing or reading why MJ was never shown facially -- only the back of his head or with somebody standing in front of him.

Affleck and Damon said it was because portraying Jordan in a real role would have removed the film’s credibility. People know MJ by sight and would have thought, consciously or unconsciously, “That’s not MJ” if they saw False MJ’s face or heard him speak. Most people don’t know what Sonny Vaccaro or Phil Knight or even Deloris Jordan looks like.

My third-favorite movie. Always wanted to see it on a big screen.
