Yeah, it’s weird to see coordinated messaging not coming from Fox News and the Wall Street Journal.

I'd be shocked if it were somehow 'coordinated.' I don't think there's anything very sinister about the timing of these things.

It's a high stakes media story, with lots of juicy inside baseball appeal to other members of the press.

Presumably Stelter has been gathering his bits of string since CNN let him go. He's also an easy call for CNN staff with axes to grind.

The NYT Zucker piece has no doubt been underway for some time. Of course you run it once the Atlantic piece drops.

But Licht / CNN has been of intense interest to media watchers for a while now.

When Licht did The Bad Thing and had The Bad Person on a townhall, I imagine a lot of wheels were already in motion or were set to go in motion.

Repeat: He just can't be president again. And he's not going to be. I wonder if GOP voters understand this, regardless of what polls say.

As for Licht...CNN can run him off, that's fine, but I imagine the staffers know they're flat-out stuck with the next person - whoever it is - for many years.

    Thank you for this.

I did love it when I clicked on your link and realized it was Brian Stetler weighing in.

I half expected the sub head to be "Karma's A Bitch, Buddy"

A great book/movie will rise up from the furious undercurrent ... the toppling of America's 1st Dictator without making it obvious.

Presumably CNN will do Town Halls for all the candidates. Which is great.

But for Trump it papered the house with Trumpists. Will it do likewise for every candidate?

Isn't the point of a Town Hall meeting to hear differing points of view?

Where Licht stumbled was in setting up a live Trump rally on CNN.

Ha ha. Brian Stelter: "Sorry. My single purpose in life now is to make certain you stay in the news."
