As much as I admired the Boss, every time I hear “Hungry Heart” I can’t get over that he sings about just abandoning his wife and kids.

“I took a turn and never went back….”

    Always bugged me.

As for a favorite, I love Seger’s Against the Wind:

    “Wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then.…”

    and

EWF That’s the Way of the World:

“Child is born with a heart of gold….”

I don't know why it sticks out to me every time I hear it but in Sister Golden Hair the line
    "I've been one poor correspondent
"I've been too, too hard to find"

The closing line of "Canadian Railroad Trilogy:"

"And many are the dead men, too silent ... to be real."

    All your dreams are made
    when you're chained
    to the mirror and
    the razor blade
    today's the day
that all the world will see.

    And in the end
    The love you take
Is equal to the love you make

Seger is sorely underrated. He should be as big as Springsteen. The penultimate verse of "The Fire Inside" is an absolute killer.

And it comes to you how it all slips away
Youth and beauty are gone one day
No matter what you dream or feel or say
It ends in dust and disarray

No idea why I like this lyric from Little Feat's Dixie Chicken so much:

"And then one night in the lobby
    Of the Commodore Hotel
I chanced to meet a bartender
Who said he knew her well"
