Nothing through six for Detroit, and Aaron Nola has that kind of stuff tonight. 88 pitches, though.

... until ex-teammate Nick Maton goes deep on Nola with two out in the seventh.

There have been only seven hitters with a BA of ≤.200 in ≥ 1,900 AB. To be more precise, there have been only four hitters with those credentials since the adoption of the DH.
Three of them are active. What a time to be alive.

I'm not sure who the fourth guy is, but having watched Seattle baseball for the past 15 years, I'm guessing he was a Mariner at some point (as was Zunino).

You made me look. Ray Oyler only had 1,265 AB to go with his .175 BA. That's quite an erection (Ball Four reference).

Sad but predictable. This guy was ticketed for the Hall before the last few years.

Rosenthal reporting that the Rangers didn't have insurance on deGrom's contract. That seems ridiculous.

Maybe companies shied away given the big contract and the high likelihood that this would be the outcome? Or maybe they are just really stupid.

This felt like the big one for deGrom the second he left the mound against the Yankees. Sucks. As transcendent a talent as has ever pitched.

Yesterday's disaster finally got the Blue Jays to demote Alek Manoah, who has been absolutely horrid this season after being one of the better pitchers in the American League in 2022. He lost the feel for his slider, then his command of everything else seemed to go, too. They probably should have done this a while ago.
