I admittedly didn’t read past the tweet.

deGrom news almost as shocking as the golf merger. Almost.

Way too much RPMs, so to speak.

I'd really like to see some sort of deep dive on injuries in sports in general and baseball in particular. I realize the way we handled things in previous generations was probably Neanderthal stuff but it seems like we tune these guys to the nth degree and then watch them break down. The "zipper," aka the Tommy John scar, is practically ubiquitous for a Major League pitcher now. Almost as bad as racehorses.

As for de Grom, I can't imagine any insurance company worth their salt wanting to get behind him. Even before the elbow, it was always something, shoulder, core, etc.

Not just demoted him — they sent him all the way down to the former Gulf Coast League. The Jays are looking for a complete reboot.

    1. The A's called up Jonah Bride. Too bad Buddy Groom has retired.

    2. Seattle purchased the contract of Bryan Woo. Which meant they were pitching Woo the other night. (I guess that's how you get a Bride and a Groom.)

The next step is to bring in Richie Sexson as a coach.

With Babe “Dr.” Ruth in the bullpen?

That's what I was thinking, too. I just wonder why they waited so long. Aside from maybe two starts, Manoah has been completely lost all season.

Maybe he had to be convinced how far gone he was and Monday night did it? Obviously, with his service time (or lack thereof) he could have been sent anywhere at any time. But we're past the point of teams wanting to do something w/o a player's consent.

The Jays had/have nobody in the minors who was pitching worth a shit and I always felt they were waiting to see if the next start would flip the switch but after Monday's debacle they had no choice. Halladay came back an absolute machine, Manoah doesn't appear to be built like that mentally. John Schneider said he'd be gone as long as it takes which will be good in a short-term pain, long-term gain kind of way.
