Half the MLB parks in America used to be wedged into neighborhoods like this.

Messi is an incredible player. But he’s got an enigmatic personality and doesn’t speak English. He will be a great player and will get extra eyeballs on the league (Apple must be thrilled) but won’t be transformational.

So, it's not like when Beckham took his diminishing skills to MLS?

Inter Messi is confirmed. Should be fun to watch.

Beckham was probably didn’t do everything which MLS wanted from him, because he’s kind of a dud when he opens his mouth. But he’s pretty and has worldwide appeal.

The Messi fans will certainly make more of an effort to find MLS but I’m guessing they will watch his games only and it won’t do much for the league.

He’s old and he won’t make a difference.

He'll be 36 later this month (June 24).

Luckily MLS has a financial model that won't send it the way of the NASL, but the big domestic stars will still be drawn overseas to get paid unless they get fortunate enough to be named a DP, which almost never happens for Americans.

The name Major League Soccer is a misnomer. If the goal of 90-plus percent of a league's players is to someday play in a better league, it is not a major league.

How can they call it the National Football League and play games in England and Mexico? And why do we park on a driveway and drive on a parkway?
