For Oklahoma’s well-deserved reputation as a football factory, the Sooners are the gold standard in not only softball but women’s gymnastics as well.

 

Even if you don't like Geno Auriemma, he went 39-0 and 39-0 in back-to-back seasons 08-09 and 09-10 and then from 2013-16 won titles going 40-0, 38-1 and 38-0. The loss was in the fourth game of the season, by two in OT, at No. 6 Stanford.

 

I’m about 100 percent sure that Mulkey set up her schedule that year with enough games to one-up Geno if her team won ‘em all. That 40-game schedule weren’t no accident.

 

Vol fans will always have 1998 (13-0 football, 39-0 women's basketball).
