Two listens through and “Weathervanes” is already a notch above “Reunions” for me. Isbell getting in others’ shoes rather than his own is him at his best and this is full of that.

Yeah. It’s amazing. Can’t wait to see him again next week.

I didn't love the singles that I had heard from the Isbell album but it all comes together as a complete package. King of Oklahoma is a real standout.

I enjoyed the Pointers Sisters later stuff, but replace the synths with an actual orchestra? Magic.

"Transatlantic Sessions" from the BBC. All sorts of good music from people you know and the same from some you likely won't know. This is a "Best of" the program that you can start on Youtube and just let it run. Folk both American and Euro, Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, all sorts of stuff from quality players. Great to crank up and play while you clean the house or something. It's a 32 song playlist.

It's not rock. Lots of wooden music and close harmony. High level of expertise on the stage.

Siouxsie was right there with a host of modern rock acts that finally broke through in 1988-89, but like with hair metal, grunge stole all their oxygen.
