From this morning's Athletic Pulse e-blast:

    A most eventful steal

Stealing home is notable enough to warrant mention. But I want to highlight the chaos around last night's swipe by the Yankees' Isiah Kiner-Falefa’s against the rival Mets:

In a three-second span, Kiner-Falefa stole home, Mets pitcher Brooks Raley almost hit Billy McKinney, and home-plate umpire Bill Miller almost got plunked, too. Oh, and the steal tied the game. And it was Yankees-Mets, a subway series, on top of all this.

The Mets eventually won the game on Brandon Nimmo’s walk-off homer in the 10th.

The Yankees are 9 games out of first place. The Mets are 10 games out of first place, and four games below .500.

    Subway series? Who cares?

Peak baseball consciousness = watching video of a catcher taking one in the lower lobby.

It was funnier when Stuttering John asked Yogi what it was like to have balls hit his chin.

    Guerrero, Bichette, Biggio, Varsho.

John Henry Williams picked the wrong team to try to hook on.

Was George Foster beaten as a kid? Not sure I've ever seen a shot of him even close to smiling.

In that pic, he looks like a kid who's been told to go to bed without dinner.

George Foster was my biggest question mark when I was still voting for the Hall of Fame. IMO, Foster was the most feared slugger on the Big Red Machine, cleanup hitter, most homers, etc. Morgan and Bench were better ballplayers, but I thought Foster deserved it. I couldn't find a lot of support for him. Heard Reggie Jackson on a radio show downplaying Foster as a HOFer. Later, I figured out Reggie doesn't want anybody else to go into the Hall because the fewer the better.

Triston McKenzie scratched with a sore elbow. Guardians season over if it’s a serious problem.

If he'd hit the batter, the runner goes back to third, right?
