Could be 8 in this scenario if a home team did this but in one of those innings someone scored on a bases-loaded walk or an error before the triple play and the visitor was shutout.

The answer is 19, by the Baltimore Orioles in a 1-0 win over Kansas City on Sept. 12, 1964. Baltimore did not bat in the B9, so it only had 24 outs. A's pitcher Bob Meyer threw a 1-hitter. Three outs were recorded on sacrifice bunts, there was one sacrifice fly, and a player who walked (not an AB) was erased on a double play. So that is 19 official at-bats. Here is the box score:

This question made me think of Sandy Koufax' perfect game in 1965 when the Cubs Bob Lee threw a one-hitter. The Cubs had 27 at bats and the Dodgers 24, with a double and a walk, both by Lou Johnson. Johnson walked in the fifth, was sacrificed to second, stole third and scored on a throwing error. He was stranded after his double in the seventh and was the only base runner the entire game.

    Bob Hendley. Must have autocorrected.

Many many years later, Koufax heard that Hendley had no souvenirs from this game, or something like that. Koufax sent him one of his game balls from that night, with a very nice note. I think the anecdote is in Jane Leavy's excellent book on Koufax, which I highly recommend.

    25. Home team homers first AB and never reaches. Visitors are shutout so home team doesn’t bat in 9th.

Just saw your answer. I was thinking batters not ABs.

There are six NBA players who have scored 700 points or more in a single playoff run. Can you name them?

That's astounding. In the seven game format, that's 25 ppg going 7 games each round.

Four of the six did it in the 5-7-7-7 days.

There were also quite a few sweeps involved.

Yes on LeBron (2018) and Jordan (1992).

    No on Curry.
