Alex Faedo was Florida's CWS star pitcher in 2017 when they won in Omaha. The Tigers drafted him and wouldn't even send him to a rookie league team the first season. Shut his arm down completely. He's since had Tommy John surgery and didn't pitch a lick in 2020 and 2021. Went out for the season in May of 2021 with a hip injury. At 27 years old he's pitched 79 innings in the Majors with a 2-8 record, 5.54 ERA and a 1.406 WHIP. And he just underwent surgery to his finger. So what did it get the Tigers to treat the guy like he was some piece of brittle China?

    Average scoring margin:
    1st 14 games: 2.0
    Last 2 games: 17.0

Eventually, even the best run out of pitching.

Five of the last six national champions (not counting 2020) have been from the SEC, and none of them are two-time winners in that span.

Since 2008, eight of the league's 14 teams have been to the finals; six have won; and 11 of the 14 have made it to the College World Series.

Nine of the 14 have made it to Omaha in just the past three years.
This is one of many things that underscore how truly irrelevant Miami has been to the ACC. In baseball, independence was fine and dandy: 14 CWS trips in their final 18 seasons before making the move. In the Hurricanes' 18 years of ACC membership in which there was a postseason, they've been to Omaha four times.

Gotta be Arkansas’ turn next, right?

Depends. How good is the Hogs' money-laundering operation? I'm sorry. Collective. How philanthropic is Arkansas' non-profit collective?

Why do we still do these dumb jokes? The floodgates are open and there’s money in college sports now, even at your favorite U. It’s like Barney Fife trying to catch somebody with a joint behind the dumpsters. The world has moved on.

Could've been on the list if they could catch a damn pop up.

Miami hasn't completely sucked the past few years. They keep making it to the tournament, hosting regionals and getting national seeds. They just keep shitting the bed at their home regionals.

This is 100% accurate. Well, not quite 100% accurate because some of the world has moved on faster and more efficiently than others.
What I'd like to see is a move beyond the disingenuous nonsense of the middle men and into outright payment of players by the schools.
