Childhood friend of Dave Portnoy, one would imagine Barstool being front and center

Exactly. Just as, on Family Feud, Steve Harvey and his salary are the real winners in every show.

Also think of the content. For all of these analysts who got let go, how many actually bring in viewers. How many make someone say "I'm going to watch as this person is on."? The Ashley Brewer layoff I am a bit puzzled by as Neil Everett had just left. Perhaps they're scuttling the L.A. Studio. She also wasn't inexpensive as she was a weekend anchor in L.A. before that.

Never got the whole "SportsCenter in LA" vibe. Perhaps they didn't want anchors wandering around Bristol in the wee hours of the morning? I can see wanting to break out of accusations of East Coast bias, but the show was very SoCal centric.

Mel Kiper is the big winner. He had to be hacked off when they hired McShay, the shiny new object, years ago. Widely presumed, I would guess, to be the next big thing. Now he’s gone. Mel outlasted him.

I didn't know they were divorcing, but I noticed recently that she stopped using her married name on air and it made me wonder.

Say what you want about John Gruden but after he left ESPN went through Booger McFarland, Jason Witten, Brian Griese and Louis Riddick in a period of four years. Aikman, along with Buck, brings a competence to the broadcasts that had been lacking. If a company is going to pay 2.7 billion dollars a year for their NFL rights 20 million apiece for Bick and Aikman is a defensible expenditure.

Is SVP the only person in sports media who seemingly doesn’t have any detractors or serious backlash? Dan Patrick, maybe? SVP is kinda sports media’s Carson at this point.

There’s a place where he found the lane of being self-deprecating and playing up the dork. He’s the 50-year-old white guy who acts like he’s got a dad joke at the ready at all times.
