Saw “You Hurt My Feelings” yesterday. Only playing on one screen in NJ and there were a total of 8 people in the theater at the matinee. There are so few movies which are for adults that we thought it would be nice to see one in the theater.

Hard to describe as a movie — somewhere between a less smart homage to Woody Allen dramedies and an unfinished show on Apple TV+. Good cast including JLD and some interesting moral issues about speaking honestly vs. holding in your thoughts, but overall, a pretty low stakes event.

The cocktails and small bites after were really good though.

Mindless holiday fun pick: Cocaine Bear.

I got exactly what I expected.

As a writer-director, Nichole Holofcener never seems to move more than an inch out of her comfort zone. Movies full of witty, deadpan dialogue between upper middle class women. And I have absolutely no problem with this. She's great. (And hey, her last actually had a male upper middle-class character as the lead.)

I never liked the one with Sean Connery, seemed hokey to me.

You might not like the general plot to Dial, then.

All of them have moments that are a little hokey, but I did enjoy the way Ford and Connery played off one another.

I'm a sucker for this scene, the humor, and the humanity of it.

Totally agree. Unnecessary recycling of Third Reich villainy. Should have picked a new angle.
