Speaking of basketball, this man won the MVP honor in two leagues and was an all-star in three, but never played a minute of varsity college basketball.

Today is Shohei Ohtani’s birthday so I looked up this question:
What two MLB players are tied with the most home runs hit on his birthday?
Sho is not one of them

Well, it’s not Ruth, as he was born in February.

Alex Rodriguez's birthday is around now, so he would be my guess.

Are we counting guys who jumped directly from high school?

If so, I’ll say Moses Malone.

If not, I’ll guess Willis Reed, assuming NAIA doesn’t count as “varsity.”

Normally I'd let this percolate a big but we're hitting the road in an hour and will be off the grid until late tonite.

It's Connie Hawkins. MVP of the ABL and the ABA, and an all-star in the ABL, the ABA and the NBA. He never played varsity basketball at Iowa after being blackballed for a marginal, marginal involvement with the NYC point-shaving scandals.

Since no one else is biting:

There are currently two MLB players in the modern era who have hit six home runs on their birthday to share the all-time lead. Those two are Mark Reynolds (born on August 3 and played 13 MLB seasons) and Alex Rodriguez (born on July 27 and played 22 MLB seasons). Rodriguez hit his final birthday home run on his 40th birthday while Reynolds tallied his last birthday long ball on his 34th birthday.

Right behind Reynolds and Rodriguez are five players who have smacked five home runs on their birthday, Todd Helton, Chipper Jones, Derrek Lee, Al Simmons, and Mike Trout..

I was shocked at the list so I looked up Bonds because he was born July 24. He only hit two in his birthday. Hit a bunch around his birthday but only two on it.
