I’m thinking of listening to shittier music, just for the cost savings. Even middling indie rock bands cost $75 a ticket right now.

Cannibal Corpse and Mayhem are co-headlining with openers Gorguts and Blood Incantation at the Royal Oak Music Theatre in October. General admission tickets are $32.50.

Granted, he's playing Brown's Island, a fairly large outdoor venue in Richmond with no real seating, but GA tix are $44.95. Very reasonable. I think the VIP ones that get you a little closer to the stage were $65 or so.

I've been fortunate to like "smaller" bands and artists recently, and led to my nice run of summer shows. White Reaper was $20. Gaslight Anthem was about $40, and Dave Hause was $17. Of course, I saw Bruce, too, and that was $250.

Despite access issues in and out of the venue due to the Honda Indy setup across the street Tedeschi Trucks Band was amazing Thursday night (weather was perfect too as it can often be dodgy right dfown by the lake). They hadn't been in Toronto since 2013 and they've become a much more versatile band since then with many of the band members sharing vocals (more of the great Mike Mattison, please) to give Susan's mighty voice a rest. Great originals, killer covers of the Allmans ("Statesboro Blues" and "Whipping Post"), John Prine and the Stones and an awesome Sly Stone medley as an encore with Ziggy Marley's band. And Ziggy goes right on my list of best opening acts I have ever seen.

My aunt and uncle took me to see Betts, Hall, Levell and Trucks when they were a group from 1982-84. Small theatre, intimate, wonderful performance.

We're going to see the Eagles and Steely Dan at MSG in September. Should be fun. Saw the Eagles in '94 at Sun Devil Stadium on their Hell Freezes Over tour.

I’m livestreaming the final Dead & Co. show via Nugs.net. As a Gen X Deadhead, this really feels like the end of the line.

Saw The Counting Crows at Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater last night in Bridgeport. First time seeing a show at "The Amp," as I'm told the kiddies call it. What a great covered, outdoor venue. Saw so many old friends who came of age when August and Everything After was in heavy rotation in 1994-1995. They sounded great and played most everything I was hoping to hear, especially "Colorblind."

BTW, just bought tickets to see Beck and Phoenix in September at the same venue. I've heard Beck puts on a tight show.

Catching Isbell tonight at Massey Hall. Flying solo, GA ticket I’m just going to stand against a wall and soak it all in.

I saw Colin James at the reno'd Massey Hall last fall. Still the best venue in the city, by far.
