Or some astroturf. I remember that being a staple of summer baseball broadcasts back in the 80s. They would be in Philly or St. Louis or Kansas City on a hot day and you could see the heat radiating off the turf, while they showed the thermometer around 130. Occasionally they'd try to fry an egg on the dugout steps.
The newer turf hasn't helped much. I've heard of kids getting burned feet (and have felt a bit toasty myself) after a long day of tournament ball.

Back in the 1990s before the new turf took off, I'd cover games down on the field in bowled stadiums with natural grass and it was like an oasis. The air temperature had to be at least 10º cooler than outside the stadium with all that parking.

130 in Death Valley in July 2021 is considered the unofficial mark.

134 at Furnace Creek in 1913 (and what is behind the world's largest thermometer in Baker) is largely believed to be bogus.

Supposedly our sea surface temperature was 81-82 yesterday, and I'll believe it.
    It's 5 a.m. and currently 79 degrees outside.
The lowest temp listed on my phone's extended forecast is 77 one night later in the week.

Hot enough to fry an egg?

Also hot enough to fry a dog's brain.
