I can't articulate how much I hate that movie. It's so cheap and easy. Just string along a bunch of historical moments for Boomers. Have a simpleton be some supposed sage while not making any point about the history he went through.

It's terrible story writing. It is so awful on a fundamental level, and yet it won Oscars.

I don’t hate Forrest Gump, but I hate that it beat two legit American classics, Pulp Fiction and Shawshank Redemption, at the Oscars.

Gump is up there with Crash and The Artist as worst Best-Picture winners ever.

And, as much as I love Hanks in general, his performance is extremely overrated.

Such a silly, silly movie. The best film of 1994 is clearly Quiz Show.

Rubber is so bad, it's weirdly rage-inducing. Maybe it's not the conceit, it's the stupidity. Midsommar implicated folklorists in bad movies the way the heirs of Colin Turnbull have borne the shame that anthropologists are to blame for the Ewoks. Dear Lord, that movie is unintentionally funny. Program alums who went to see it in its first run summed it up to each other as "Folklorists go to an unspecified Scandinavian country and have sex!" Then we all laughed and laughed and laughed.

I was a huge Toxic Avenger fan back in the day, and a hole-in-the-wall discount record store in my neighborhood had the entire Troma catalog on VHS.

I bought quite a few of their other films, mostly harmless B-movie schlock. But, their epic masterpiece, Troma’s War, was godfuckingawful. There’s a fine line to walk between campy and just bad, and I haven’t seen a film before or since that misses that mark so badly.

The movie can be reduced to so many simplistic points. That is how bad it is.

The more I think about that movie, the more I hate it. There isn't a credible defense for it. Awful in every way. Terrible story, terrible direction, a cheap use of an A-LIst actor. I'm still angry I saw that film.

Worth pointing out that Ted Cruz is not the only one saying this. Vietnam and the Philippines have also taken some offense. The specific thing they're taking offense to might be a bit silly, but it's still kind of a sensitive issue in that part of the world.
