Just spitballing here, but he didn't take a look at the lyrics himself before recording the song and say "maybe we shouldn't do this?" Or is he incapable of thinking for himself?

 

"The corporate committee that wrote this song tells me it's about the values of the kind of small town I pretend to have grown up in."

 

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks Aldean’s marketing team ginned up the left to get the MAGAs to virtue signal by buying the song.

 

You mean the country artist who had 61 of his fans shot dead at a concert of his? Geez, that is Trump-level sociopathy.

 

This sumbitch has never had occasion to use the word “meritless” in conversation nor in writing. Reasonably well done by the PR flack, but not done well enough to hide the odor of bullshit.
