Isn't that what made Marvel's movie rights such a mess back in the 90s, when they sold them off piecemeal to various studios?
But if it means we get Dolph Lundgren as Deadshot, Matt Salinger as Green Lantern and Rebecca Staab as Wonder Woman, maybe it'll all be worth it.

I'll also say, seeing how badly DC has bungled its shared movie universe makes you appreciate even more what Marvel pulled off for 11 years. Not every Marvel movie was a home run, but they hit on the right formula to be consistently entertaining and profitable. They also found enough variation in the formula by splicing in elements of different genres to keep them from all feeling exactly the same. The DC debacle is showing just how monumental a moviemaking feat that was.

The XFL meets the Academy Awards. Would make good theater, but no way the actors, etc., would go for it. Besides, it opens the possibility that the losers will give better speeches/responses than the winners.

It probably helps that Marvel's worst movies weren't nearly as bad or bleak as the worst DC movies in the same time period. They're formulaic, except for some of the highs - Black Panther, Endgame, Civil War, Guardians - but even the bad ones aren't going to enrage anyone.

It actually has moments, but once again they got Lex Luthor wrong and that Martha scene really is complete shit. Find a better reason for both of them to survive. Hell, why not have Doomsday interrupt the fight?

I don't know. People were pretty pissed that the last Ant-Man and the Wasp movie sucked.

More from the DC Universe: the upcoming Aquaman movie looks like a disaster and the answer to "who the fuck is Blue Beetle and why should anybody care," is "nobody cares."

Report: 'Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom' Underwent Third Set Of Reshoots Due To Issues With "Story Clarity"

On the heels of the Flash fiasco this is pretty much the football equivalent of having your hall of fame QB thrown for a 45-yard loss on 3rd-22 and having both knees blown out with career ending injuries on the play.

Could be time to line up to punt to take the intentional safety.

Ahhh yess, that was the 57,956th regurgitation of the fucking DUMBSDAY storyline in which Superman gets brutally beaten and beaten and beaten and beaten and beaten, finally impaled on DUMBSDAY's bony horn (or maybe his horny bone) just to prove that Superman is NOT boring, NOT indestructible, he was VERY destructible, in fact he was DEAD! DEAD DEAD DEAD!! They had a funeral and everything! Lois cried! MARRTHHAA cried!! Wonder Woman cried! Even Batfleck choked up a bit.
Yes indeed, Superman was dead! Dead dead dead! So dead he actually stayed dead almost 20 minutes of the next movie!!

Here's another idea: Why don't they just shitcan the fucking stupid DUMBSDAY/Death of Superman storyline once and for all? How about actually coming up with a new story line?

Lex Luthor has been a primary nemesis/ villain in EIGHT fuckin movies, in four or five teevee shows and probably 10 variations of the animated series, and except for maybe a season or two of Smallville and a few story arcs in the animated shows, they've never gotten him fucking right.

They usually fuck it up by making him:

    -- a cocktail lounge comedian
    -- a real estate swindler
    -- a spurned boyfriend
    -- a corporate publicity hound
    -- a political power grabber
-- a common criminal just interested in money
    -- a screw-loose imitation Joker
-- someone who's mainly annoyed at Superman for interfering with his villainous schemes, he seems to have no personal dislike for him at all
-- a sloppy fucker who surrounds himself with absolute dumbshit henchmen. How can your fiendish schemes work if you keep hiring dumbfucks who fuck thrm up? Does Tom
Cruise hire fucking idiots for the IMF??

If Barbie has a plot north of Matilda or Air Bud, that's an automatic win. Otherwise I will definitely check out the Oppenosite but will likely wait for streaming.

His character was all over the place on Smallville. At times, they did a good job with him, but the entire show was inconsistent and downright bad in the middle seasons.

The best version of him might be the Superman: The Animated Series, though that version went off the rails on Justice League. I've heard good things about Michael Cudlitz's performance on Superman and Lois, but I need to catch up on that series.

Eisenberg's version might have been the worst.

I thought the movie was OK, but admittedly, I don't have much desire to rewatch, between the Majors of it all and because the highs of the movie weren't so high. I also heard more exasperation / exhaustion than outright hate, excluding those who always hate these movies. It was also roughly movie #30, out of 32 released so far. Maybe not so surprisingly, there are now more Marvel movies since 2008 than James Bond movies ever (27).
