Running MCU thread

Fury's plan certainly has major flaws in it. I didn't have as much of a problem with the ending, but yeah, there was a great deal of wasted potential in the show.

 

It was not that good, but I will counter it was just as good as Jack Ryan.

 

You can’t just throw comic book characters at people if the writing sucks. Didn’t they learn from DC?

 

The characters just are not fun anymore.

The new ones they are introducing are not played by people we know and like in real life.

They have to stick the landing on Reed Richards.

I will say Olivia Coleman was great.

 

I would argue Simu Liu is someone we like in real life. We just don't know him, and he hasn't shown up in anything since his movie came out two years ago and we have no idea when we'll see him again. And Captain Marvel hasn't been around since Endgame four years ago. In the early days, since they didn't have as many characters in the MCU, you didn't go as long between their appearances. When they were really diving into getting us to know the early Avengers, we didn't go nearly as long between seeing them. But they're doing so many characters now, there's a lot longer between them, and we get bored.

That and, in all honesty, the freshness of those early years of the superhero explosion have worn off. They capitalized with a lot of content while they could, and they pumped out a lot of good to great stuff for a while. Everything hit, so we were excited for the next installment. But after a few good to meh to bad offerings mixed in between the good stuff, the audience isn't as psyched to see every last piece of the MCU.

 

He's a main Ken in Barbie. And I enjoyed Shang-Chi.

 

Liu is very good. The woman/girl playing Ms. Marvel is good.

The Spiderman franchise is set.

 

The whole thing is bloated. They have just done too much. They also miss having Downey, Evans, and Hemsworth to build things around. Boseman (RIP) seemed primed to take on a similar role and they have no one to take his place. Taking so long to follow up on Shang-Chi was a big mistake.

 

Christ, losing Bosman was a huge loss.

 

The loss of Boseman was huge. They've also done a poor job connecting the TV stuff to the movies. There are clear connections, but things are so spread out, but the time the movie tied to something that happened on TV comes out, a lot of the enthusiasm has died out. Like with WandaVision and Doctor Strange. And now with Ms. Marvel and the Marvels. If there had been six months between the TV and related movie instead of more than a year, it would've made more sense. Plus, the days of the billion-dollar blockbuster are mostly over. Some will pop up here and there, but the heyday of a few years ago where practically every top 10 movie for the year made a billion are gone. The pandemic taught a lot of folks we can just wait home and stream the ones we aren't sure about and it will be just as good. Every studio putting out their own service kinda hurt them there.

 

The minimum for a movie to streaming should be a year.

Anything streaming should not be related to the overall scope of everything.

And streaming services should not try to make movies.

Just my two cents.
