I like JVG, but he's capable of this banter with everyone. He and Zach Lowe have a pretty good "new stats + scouting vs. traditional smart coaching principles" sort of dynamic, and he's a frequent guest on Lowe's podcast. I would have preferred to see Breen and just JVG, or trying out a new third person.

Rivers still had two years left on his sixers contract. Unless ESPN is paying Doc more than eight million dollars a year, which I doubt, the money Rivers receives will just be an offset against the Sixers contract. ESPN could be paying Doc a nominal amount for the next two years and saving a lot of money on the salaries Van Gundy and Jackson were receiving.

Doc is better on TV than Mark Jackson is so that's a plus. Redick fills out the younger dude voice and, yes, keeps the "optics" balanced.
