I'd rather see the ACC die than take Maryland back.

This might have been presented in the thread already, but what I think should happen is this: Football, men's basketball and women's basketball should have their own super conferences and the other sports should have regional conferences.

The travel for the athletes in other sports is going to be insane. You can couple schools and sports (many schools have one coaching staff for men's and women's swimming, for example), but you can't pair up on some combinations - USC doesn't have softball and UCLA doesn't have men's swimming, for example.

For years, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State played in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, and things worked out just fine. It was a great conference that, for the most part, was regional.

If you're Notre Dame, playing in a regional conference for the other sports would save a ton of money. They can bus to almost all of the Big Ten's Midwest schools.

But, all of that makes too much sense.

SMU in the ACC? Did anyone have these talks on their conference realignment Bingo card?

The prospect of two schools near the Pacific joining the ACC fills me with joy. BC had no business joining, but at least the city is on the Atlantic.

I mean, you can at least make an argument about that one.

I think the state also sued the ACC.

Why? How is this gonna appease FSU? Is the ACC going to take the additional dollars stemming from SMU’s arrival and give them all to FSU?
