Got a long flight coming up. Certainly haven't been on here as long as most of you, but hit me with the best SJ.com threads from the past. Looking for throwback threads on the art of the craft, writing, breaking news, reporting, interviewing, networking... behind-the-scenes stories, reading recommendations, ethics debates, anything to take me back to a more simpler time where substance mattered.

I am inept and tired so I will just copy and paste the title but this was the best.

In the middle of page 6, this thread on Lane Kiffin ditching Knoxville moments ahead of the angry mob started morphing into access issues, when to honor PR ground rules or not and the needs of TV versus print. (Daddy, what’s print?)

Writing for mags like The New Yorker, GQ, Esquire, etc.

Also, Care Bear’s breakdown of the 50 Shades of Grey book/movie.

And any Crossed Giblets of Death thread.

Actually I take it back. That thread spun off this one, which is where the journalism talk happened.

Jesus, that thread is pissing me off all over again, 13 years later.

The willingness of some reporters to just fucking grovel for access is embarrassing.

I read this one every September because it was personal and the outpouring here really touched me -- and helped me. And leads me to stick around.

The haiku one was always up there for me. I haven't re-read it to make sure it's still funny, but...

    It's 5-7-5, dammit!

If you haven’t read it — or even if you have — @Batman’s Vin Scully story is one of the best things this board has produced.

    Two years ago today ...

The four-act SJ play Versatile wrote in my honor. Here’s the start, and I think it ends on page 5. Just read the whole thing. The reactions are good, too.
