No, it wasn't a political decision. It was a decision made because she and her parents knew that in this country, no matter what she chose to do with her life, it would be a tad easier as Nikki than as Nimarita. Just like the millions of immigrants who Americanized their names in the late 19th and early 20th centuries knew.

No real American would ever change their name or use a nickname. Ain't that right, Chuck?

If you're famous, they let you get away with it.

Nikki Haley went from being a fairly rational pragmatic politician to being a Trumper who is now trying to dance back and across that line. Fuck her.

Well it was her middle name and Punjabi.

Regardless, a poster here shouldn't be mocking her, implying that she changed her name for a political reason to hide her ethnicity and get by in Republican politics because all Republicans are racist.

And she has about as much chance of being our next president as Mr. Ed.

My post was more about teachers not calling students by their name of choice. I wasn't even thinking about Nimarata.
Me thinks you doth protest too much on this topic.
As for me, whether it be a student or a self-loathing politician, I give the same number of shits what someone wants to be called. If I ask your name, and you tell me Darth Vader or Bigfoot, then that's who you are to me.
