They should show "The Lottery," like many of us old people saw in our early 1970s classrooms.

I remember watching the sun set over Lanai before we did the Lahaina Luau. One of the most peaceful places I've ever been. As soon as I saw the first video, I had a terrible feeling that little town was never going to be the same.

Gwen and I were just chatting over the weekend about Hawaii, and if we went back, what island would be our favorite. Maui was the winner. We're both sick to see such devastation.

I need an “agree” button rather than “like” for this post.

There were some cool shops and a great local fish and chips restaurant we visited in Lahaina when we went to Maui in 2019. Also a neat museum with a huge Banyan tree in front of it. All gone, along with hundreds of homes. Devastating.

The islands are all like this. Only reason most of it isn't desert is because of the massive mountain rainfall.

Visited a bunch of times and it is hard to even comprehend that Lahaina is gone. I've been close to many wildfires and earthquakes, but to think Lahaina is gone is inconceivable.

I'm really crushed by this too -- and I evacuated with the clothes on my back when the Thomas Fire burned my direct neighbor's house down. I just loved my trips there so much, I can't cope with the loss of that wonderful little town.
