Today I got a remastered CD of Steve Forbert's "Streets of This Town," recorded in 1988 but unavailable for decades because of recording contract issues. It's really great. "I Blinked Once" is as good as "Settle Down," "Going Down to Laurel" or '"Say Goodbye to Little Jo," his previous best in my opinion.

Proof that it's the musician, not the instrument.

Keith Moon got a mention on another thread, and it reminded me of this. I love Michael Giles' percussion on this entire album.

Here is a different song called Moonchild. This takes me back to a concert in Germany in 1992 while I was goth-curious.

Some of these I remember from my childhood but others like Born To Add are just brilliant:

OK - this is one of the MOST AMAZING things I've ever seen. Amazing info, fantastic delivery and well - yeah, the song is legendary. I could spend hours with behind the vinyl - the storys in some cases are better than the song. (this one is a push).

Got turned on to the new Deer Tick record this weekend ... so very good from beginning to end, and The Real Thing is a great closing track.

I like this. I'm forwarding it to my daughter, who is a fan of the possessed-voice thing.

Here's one you may like. Van der Graaf Generator didn't get a lot of traction in the States, possibly because of the band's dumb name. But Peter Hammill had one of the most operatic voices in prog-rock, and the rest of the band was equally talented IMO.
