Again, implying Nikki Haley changed her name for political reasons (appear more white) is different from any discussion of a law about kids names.

No, it’s not whataboutism. It’s holding people to the same standards that they’re demanding of everyone else based upon their own arbitrary morals.

The same “is different” argument can be used to say that it’s morally acceptable to make teachers use preferred names of transgender kids because their situations are different than everyone else’s.

Should there have been laws passed ordering everyone to refer to Cassius Clay and Lew Alcindor as their given names? Of course not. So why is it moral to pass laws demanding that everyone must call the transgender kid Jim instead of Jill?
