If only Trump had fallen all the way down the escalator and bashed his stupid head to bits, George W. would still be the worst in modern history.

    Alas.

I'd say someone needs to hit Marge in the face with a bag of dildos, but she'd actually probably like it.

The discussion around Nikki Haley's name has always been a bit odd to me, given that it is her middle name and she's used it since childhood.

But it reminds me of a lot of the nasty Republican primary that she won on her way to becoming governor. In addition to these same aspersions about her name, there were wild accusations of affairs and questions about her faith.

What I recall was conservatives questioning whether she was really Christian or whether her conversion was purely political. When she ran for the statehouse in the mid 2000s she talked a lot about her Sikh upbringing and at that time was regularly attending services at a Sikh temple with her parents and a Methodist Church with her husband. But then when she ran for governor, she changed her narrative to focus on her Christian conversion and she de-emphasized her Sikh upbringing, and suddenly it was only a couple of times a year that she attended her parents temple. All that makes sense from a political perspective when you think about representing a statehouse district that's suburban vs representing the entire state. But it also opened the door to this ugly line of attack about her "real faith" from her fellow Republicans.

Anyway, I couldn't ever imagine voting for her, but not for any of those reasons. I have zero interest in anyone who served in the Trump Administration in any capacity from here until I die.

Randomly connected thought. A newish neighbor, nice young lady who moved in during the pandemic, has a "Nikki Haley" sign in her yard. I found it surprising just because I live in a deeply blue area and you rarely see public support for any conservatives. In the last two election cycles, there was one elderly couple that put up Trump stuff and that was it. Anyway, her Haley yard sign gave me a small amount of hope that maybe, at least, younger conservatives are rejecting Trumpism. One can hope.

I'm rich, but I act broke
    I'm famous, but I'm stupid
I'm not skinny, but I fatshame
    I'm a tough guy, but I'm scared
    I'm a winner, but I'm a victim

And what it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be alt right
'Cause I've got one hand in your pocket
And the other one is giving a choke sign

I act drunk, but I'm sober
    I'm old and I'm overpaid
I'm tired, but its working, yeah
    I hate, but I'm foolish
I'm here, but I'm really gone
I'm wrong and never sorry, baby

And what it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be alt right
'Cause I've got one hand in your pocket
And the other one is clutching a cell phone

The Nikki Haley thing irritates me because she’s standing in front of a bunch of nativist birthers, telling them what they want to hear.

It’s like the GOP nominee for the house I voted against this past November here in Virginia. … a second generation immigrant whose family came here via a refugee visa is going to caucus with the party of “we’ve got to stop all refugees, until we figure out what the hell is going on”????

Get the fuck out of here with that shit.

But without math, how will the 12-year-olds in the coal mines know when they've actually loaded 16 tons?

Was at a family reunion two weeks ago and was talking to my cousin, who is a WVU grad that stayed in Morgantown after graduation. The story he told was that the state's population is aging and no longer of child producing age and so you have declining enrollment from in-state students coupled with an aggressive construction plan and it has created a $50 million deficit.
