A serious question. Is this approaching a point where Iowa State needs to not play this year?

That'd take away a lot of your cash flow (if you were still in a legal state). I mean, what's the cutoff? The NBA kept going with Donaghy. And Iowa State (and Northwestern) is all we've heard about. What's going on behind the scenes?

I do a very small amount of football games in Division II and it was drilled into us in the recent clinic to not even have a sports betting app on your phone. I can only imagine what the FBS and FCS officials are being told and the scrutiny they are under.

I was at a clinic this year and there was an official who just got bumped up to a P5 conference that he doesn't even play in a private poker game each week during the offseason.

Another higher-ranked official pulled a lower-ranked official off to the side and told him to "re-evaluate" what he puts on social media, even if it was only something as innocent as "here's a picture of where I worked at last night" at the college AND high school level.

"You don't know who's searching what."

I'd think it would have to get a ton more widespread there for that to happen. They may be key players, but we are still looking at, what, 10-12 guys? So they probably have 70 left without counting walkons.

If I was their compliance guy, though, I'd be polishing my resume. Seems to be a lot of guys either ignorant of the rules or not caring about following them.

That would be the compliance person responsible for the education about that, right?

I don’t see why Matt Campbell shouldn’t pull down a multi-game suspension at the very least. Captain of the ship and all that.

Am I doing the math right? That’s less than $8 a bet.

I would be absolutely shocked if this wasn't happening everywhere, yeah - especially among the middle tier and lower programs. What's striking to me is how small some of the amounts involved are here. Not exactly kids getting rich off of this.

Here's what I don't get: The average bet in these cases is < $10. What's the point?

Do you guys not sports gamble?
I am fortunate to be in a great financial position. I don't have FU money, but I don't have to worry about money.
And $11 bets absolutely keep me on the edge of my seat. I live and die with an $11 football bet. It's the thrill of the bet, the win and the loss, the high and the low emotionally. Most people I know don't bet life-changing money.

Hell, $10 might be a shit ton to these students.

I wonder if they are playing a bunch of parlays?

If they are dumb enough to throw all this away over gambling, I could see them willing to throw down some Hail Mary parlays.

A buddy we text all day trading baseball picks. We love NRFIs and YRFIs. And baseball in general. He bets a buck or so and sometimes cashes out if he can get a quarter proft. I bet 50-100 a pop. I think he gets more excited about winning than I do.
