It's not a fear, but if I get foam on food, not great.

I'll spit in my own food, thanks.

Wood chippers - it has to be the worst way to go.

I must say, surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. I do have a fear of Gary Busey.

For three years, I had an absolute phobia about going to our mailbox while my daughter was in high school. The fear was that there would be a failure notice from her school. (She was not fond of learning at that time.)

And I really mean that panic would grip at my stomach if I had to go out and get the mail.

Now that this has passed, the dentist is the biggest phobia. Colonoscopies coming up hard on the outside.

I hate any video or audio that makes me conscious of my breath or my breathing. My wife listens to breathing exercises and it practically makes me hyperventilate. I leave the room. My body knows what to do. I don’t want to think about the mechanics of it.

That's surprising. Colonoscopies usually come up hard on the inside.

I have lived in several houses with fireplaces and have never tried to light one. If someone else is having a fire, great, but I'm not building my own in my house. Feels like a film-at-11 just waiting to happen.

I don't consider that irrational. I've never liked creepy, crawly things.

I had signs of a rodent in my house and bought a sticky pad to catch it. I woke up and found a mouse stuck to the pad, but still slithering. If it was dead, I would have got a broom and dust pan and disposed of it, but since it was moving, it was freaking me out. I called a neighbor who does lots of handyman work, knowing he wouldn't be scared. I figured he'd scoop it up an put in in the trashcan. Nope, he bashed the thing with a screwdriver to kill it, then scooped and tossed. I'm still traumatized.

I was the one called on to kill bugs in summer camp. Having mice in my apartment was an entirely different matter, but I was more angry than frightened.

Got another pyrophobe here! Thankfully, I had kind lab partners who would light the Bunsen burner for me. I'm slowly learning to manage cooking on the top of my gas stove.

I also fear falling. Not heights, because I can be inside tall buildings without an issue. I can empathize with those who dislike crossing bridges though.

You should have watched the end of Full Metal Jacket first.
