Seems like every time the Orioles win, the Rays win. And vice versa. Both teams lost by seven runs on the west coast last night. Nice symmetry there. They only have four games left against each other, all in Baltimore. O's have only lost more than two in a row twice this season -- three games in May and four in June/early July.

Flaherty's inability to throw a damn strike last night was kind of concerning though. Walks three straight with two outs to bring in a run then gives up a grand slam to Gary Sanchez and the Padres were up 5-0 in a blink.

Against the New Yorks this past week, Braves are 5-1 after having out scored them 56-to-13.

As a Cleveland fan, this Braves team reminds me of the 1995 Indians. Just a staggering amount of offense and a swagger when they walk into the ballpark.

Flaherty looked a lot like Flaherty again, which is not good for the O’s. St. Louis won’t miss him at all.

It may seem that the Birds and the Wandering Eyes meet the same fates on the same day, but it doesn't happen as often as we think.
Since the All-Star break, here's the breakdown of days on which both teams have played:
    Both win: 9
    Both lose: 7
O's win while the Wanderers lose: 8
Wanderers win while the O's lose: 4

All told, the Orioles have done a great job of rebuffing the predators.
Tonight's a big one. The Giants, of course, were of no help for the second time in three days this afternoon. Padres turn to Blake Snell, who has been lights-out.

National League has the Braves and Dodgers and nothing else. Garbage. Last wild card team in the AL is on pace to win 90. The NL's last qualifier on target for 84.
