What did the Tuohys get for delivering Oher to Ole Miss? I imagine they had a big impact on that as well.

A couple things, there was no book deal, no movie deal when the Tuohys took Oher in. It's not like they are one of these low-level basketball coaches who bring players in from overseas, crams them into an apartment and hopes on or two of them pan out - but I do agree that if Oher recently was married, his spouse SHOULD seek to end the conservatorship (its ridiculous that he's still under one at this point if that's the case) and I also wonder if a there was a letter drafted by a lawyer to the Tuohys seeking to "settle this amicably $$" to avoid messy press coverage.

You’re giving the Tuohys a pass.

Fact 1- They told him they we’re adopting him, and didn’t.

Fact 2- They actually stole his legal rights through a conservatorship and never told him and to this day never rescinded it.

Fact 3- The same attorney that “represented” him in the conservatorship, represented the Tuohys, clear conflict of interest. That could get me disbarred in CA and start letter to malpractice insurance carrier.

Fact 4- How much you sell something, does not mean profits we’re generated.

BTW, Oher can find out truth by subpoenaing records from movie studio to find out exactly how much Tuohys got paid. Docs don’t lie.

I am confused about one criticism I've seen about Lewis - that he should have verified that the adoption actually took place by looking at court documents. Are these documents public record in any state? I was a courts reporter for about 10 years in Rhode Island, and family court documents were pretty much never available, unless they're provided to you by one of the people involved. I guess he could have asked the family or Oher for copies, but at the time, there didn't seem to be any controversy about this aspect. As of 2017, Oher's bio-mother still seems like a piece of work, and she would have been the only one able to legally challenge things when he was 18ish.

I heard a clip of the son on some radio station or podcast yesterday. Sounds like a real piece of shit.

Also the book never mentions adoption, does it? (Can't find my copy right now)

Also, if it was a conservatorship with no mention of officially making him family, why did the NCAA decide that was good enough after going to the mattresses over it? Colonel Reb has no pull with them then or now.

You can't "adopt" a legal adult, but a conservatorship allows a guardian the authority to make decisions for a family member. Did Oher blow through all of his NFL money already?

He's correct. The tea is being spilled all over that sub by Memphis restaurant employees.
