Can’t help but feel for the Aussies. Concede late to go down a goal, sell out to try to extend the game and had three high quality looks only to just miss, and then England with a counterattack to put an end to the threat.

I thought having Kerr made Australia an appreciably better team, but England just had more options and was able to use them better. Best team in the tournament.

England looked like it had 17 defenders on the field, and Carpenter’s mental lapse on the second goal didn’t help. But the Matildas have captured the hearts of Australia, and it’s a big, big boost for the game here, I’m told.

USWNT will be looking for a new head coach - if the reports are true about the impeding resignation of the current one.

Seeing as how England's coach hops from contender to contender, might as well hire her

Australia was very lucky it was scoreless as long as it was -- probably should have been down two or three goals before England actually scored. You could tell they were just trying to hang on and get to the locker room 0-0

You might not survive as the USWNT coach if you lose in the finals of the World Cup. This was a no brainer.

The team didn’t play its hardest until Sweden. Unacceptable.

Sports are sports, leadership is leadership, effort is effort. They didn’t play hard until Sweden. I think it’s possible that Carli Lloyd shitting all over the team did more for their motivation than the coach did.
