"Holy shit. That guy looks like broccoli."

That is everything that is wrong with that movie. They substituted waves of odd-looking characters and scenery for good storytelling. I'm surprised they stopped at one line like that. Hey, look at the broccoli guy. Hey, look at the guy with a gun for a head. Hey, look at the stuff they drink so they can understand each other. Hey, look at MODOK! Check out who that is! Hey, it's Bill Murray! There are MCU movies and shows that use the effects to tell a story. This one uses them to plaster over the massive holes in the story.

Kang wasn't a terrible character, but so much of it just didn't make sense. We are told that Janet didn't want to talk about her experiences in the Quantum Realm, but she wouldn't think to warn the people she loves about the danger? The only thing that makes it feel plausible is how little they have done to develop that character.

That is just a simplified version of the movie's flaws, but all of it would have been forgivable if they had the guts to stick with the original ending, which was to have Scott and Hope stranded in the Quantum Realm. It didn't even have to be forever. They could have brought them back during one of the upcoming Avengers movies. The story was clearly setting up that fate for them, having their lucky victory over Kang come at a cost, so the resolution of that problem feels forced and fake. They just didn't have the guts to do the sadder ending, and the movie suffers tremendously for that.

I'll tell you, I just can't imagine what a Barbie movie would be about. Has anybody seen it?

Is it a spoof? Is there a real storyline? I keep thinking it might be a Barbie biopic, but don't know what that would entail. I've read a couple of reviews of the movie, and, based on that, it sounds like it approaches Barbie as a cultural icon and influence -- and there isn't really a story.

Saw "Oppenheimer" on Saturday and my immediate takeaway is that it could have benefitted from introducing the innumerable characters with a quick on-screen bio to quickly orient people who aren't familiar with these people. My 15-year-old daughter still enjoyed the movie, but she didn't have any idea who Neils Bohr or Edward Teller or Enrico Fermi are.

Also, it had Matthew Modine and Rami Malek, but I can't even tell you what characters they played.

It was a terrific movie -- minus the odd decision to stop the sex scene to recite from the Bhagavid Gita -- but it was also overlong and spent waaay too much time
on his battle to retain his security clearance after the war. It's not a movie I could ever imagine sitting through again.

I don't always go for romantic comedies, but Peter Dinklage, Marisa Tomei, and Anne Hathaway could get me to the theater for this one.
