Not really. They're just working within the system. The number of visits they'll cover is what they'll pay for. You can go talk to someone and work your issues, get a different point of view, maybe some new things for your toolkit. You can turn it down if you want to, but doing the visits that you can will do you more good.

Mental health treatment is different in this country, still treated as not quite medicine. If you were having trouble with your knees or back and got sent to physical therapy, they'll do the same thing. They'll schedule appointments up to what's covered. The difference is that the PT will send a progress report that shows what your improvement looks like, how many reps, what the range of motion. If they can prove continuing benefit often the insurance will approve X more visits. With most mental health policies you have a set number of visits per year. If you need inpatient treatment that starts a different clock, but it's largely the same, covered for so long, then you're on your own.

I just went and got a couple of massages instead. It was probably better and certainly cheaper than the chiropractor anyway.

Not quite. I did go get some calamari and beer afterward, so that's pretty close these days.

For the record, that was more of a general "you" than aimed at your situation specifically.
