Tilray is new, but doing very well and Sweetwater and Montauk have really rising under them. AB only bought all those brands because it had Kona. All they ever wanted was Kona and this proves it since Kona wasn't a part of the sale. I hope this means Widmer and Breckenridge will get some more diversity on its portfolios.

Shock Top is the one that makes me laugh, they are DOA now. AB hitched their trailer to Mango Cart and gave Shock Top a shove since it couldn't do much to Blue Moon sales. I see Mango Cart everywhere now.

A buddy of mine just tried Banana Cream Moon Pie Moonshine. 17% ABV. His review:

"I tasted the Moon Pie Banana Cream Moonshine, with an actual Banana Moon Pie as a comparison. The moonshine is creamy, and is very reminiscent in viscosity of egg nog. The moonshine is at the forefront of the flavor profile, and that is followed by notes of banana and marshmallow, though both profiles are almost overpowered by the rum. But it is 34 proof, so that’s not unexpected. There’s no hint of the cake profile from the actual cream pie, however.

Overall, a tasty beverage that I will likely use as an experimental mixer, especially if my friends come up with interesting ideas."

Where I used to live, moonshine had to be aged in bicycle bottles to be authentic, with the bicycle bottle taste.

Guess they were early adopters of the anti- "in vitro" movement. Bless their hearts.

Staying away from "fall beers" so far and opted for my homebrew Cream Ale while I brewed a double batch this afternoon and dry hopped half with Cascade wet hops & the other half with Centennial. Happy Hop Harvest season, for those that celebrate! :)

About 25 years ago, I used to enjoy a Negroni after dinner. Somehow, I lost track of that cocktail and probably had not had one in about 20 years.

A recent trip to Italy put me back in touch with the Negroni and I am enjoying one as I bang on this keyboard. The recipe is simplicity itself:

A couple ice cubes in an old-fashioned glass
    2 oz Campari
2 oz Sweet Vermouth (I prefer Cinzano)
    2 oz Tanqueray gin.
Garnish with an orange twist and stir to combine.

    Yum !!

Had a Boont Amber from Anderson Valley for the first time in a while. Still a great beer. Finally figured out what the "Boont" was.

Carpano Antica is worth the extra money for a vermouth.

Tonight we're having friends for dinner, and they're wine drinkers, so we have white and red Rhones. As far as cocktails go, even though it's still summer, I have been feeling kind of ginned out lately, so I've moved to my fall-winter choice, single malt on the rocks.

A little late, but I kegged my festbier this weekend, and put her to sleep to later until early October.
